I call it a workaround because the local machine policy for a domain controller is, as a best practice, usually controlled at the domain controller/active directory level. I have been scratching my head for days and could really use some help. I have tried updating this user with my main credentials, my child domain credentials (I am a domain admin on both) and local to the machine credentials. I get the same result ("Add User or Group." is grayed out) no matter how I log in. It is worth noting that this is a child domain that I am working with. "Add User or Group." is grayed out for me. In my Google searches I found and this seems to be what my issue is, but I am unable to add my user to “Allow log on through Remote Desktop Services” in the Local Security Policy window. My work around has been to give him a Domain Admin role (he only needs read access and not the keys to the kingdom). a member of a security group used for SQL access.If the group you’re in does not have the right, or if the right has been removed from the Administrators group, you need to be granted the right manually.” By default members of the Administrators group have this right. ![]() “To sign in remotely, you need the right to sign in through Remote Desktop Services.
